I hinted in an earlier post that Arlen has said “au revoir” to his daycare. Some astute readers even called me out on that, asking what was happening. Well, here’s the answer. Our littlest toddler has moved on to a new pre-school program at a new childcare centre!

Arlen gearing up for the big day

The new centre is attached to his brother’s school (which will make pickups and dropoffs easier for us), but more importantly, there are new cubbies, new toys, a new playstructure, and he’s graduated to the pre-school program! Arlen had a spectacular first day. Not just good – but truly spectacular. He only spent the morning there on the first day, but they already want to keep him there until after nap time. He didn’t want to leave, and when he did, he spent the rest of the day talking about the fish, the fact that they had a TOOTHBRUSH just for him, and just how nice everyone was. Sure they think he needs a helmet to wear a tricycle (hinting at a litiguous parent body), but the programming looks good and his peer group is friendly and well-behaved.

I can do it by myself!

For me, I’m obviously thrilled that he’s integrating so well into the new space, but I’m saddened that our little afternoon hour of alkone time has come to a close. It was a great way to end a day at work. Arlen is a joy to drop-off and pick up (he’s always so happy to see you) and we were able to spend an hour alone with each other every day as Caroline got the other two. But I’m just being selfish; Arlen’s going to have a great time at the new centre. What am I saying? He already is.

He looks so happy! Such a little dude. PS. I love his jersey.

Happiness is Arlen’s superpower. That’s the face he wakes up with. He literally went from sleep to giant grin when I woke him up this morning.

PS – I’m intentionally not responding to your Italian provocation. ;)

Wow. Is there a spot there for me? I like fish and hamsters.

There was also a pony ride. I’m not kidding. Day two included pony rides. They also brought a goat and a sheep for them to pet.

Now you are just being cruel.
